Emeritus Fellowship
Recently superannuated research active faculty member from universities and institutes interested in research may be invited to join as Emeritus fellows whose work will be to undertake independent research and guide fellow programme research scholars in collaboration with the regular faculty of IIM Ranchi. They will also be doing their independent research and publication. They will be granted a monthly fellowship of Rs. 50,000/- and contingency grant of Rs. 50,000/- per annum.

Objective
The scheme of Emeritus Fellowship intends of utilize the services of highly qualified and experienced superannuated professors at institutions /colleges /universities in stimulating and achieving excellence in research. The services of superannuating professors who have been professionally active and doing excellent work would be valuable to the teaching and research activities of the Institute. The Emeritus Fellowship Scheme is for utilizing the expertise and capabilities of such individuals during the initial years after they superannuate. It not only provides a channel for utilization of the services of highly qualified and capable individuals who are in good health and have many more productive years of activity left, but also to some extent helps in meeting the shortage of such persons in several areas in the Institute.
Structure

The superannuated professor from reputed institutions /colleges /universities to be considered for the fellowship award would be actively engaged in teaching and research in the preceding five years.

The fellowship will be awarded for a term of two years for professors with recent superannuation.

This may be further extended for period of one more year depending upon the performance evaluation that will be done every year.

The Emeritus Fellow will submit a feedback of his work at the end of every year to the Director.

Fellows will conduct academic research independently or jointly with a resident faculty member in their area of interest. The goal will be to publish in top, internationally recognized journals.

Emeritus Fellows will devote a part of his/her time [20% of the total time] for giving impetus to consultancy, research, redesigning of courses, industry-institute- interaction, formulation of research projects.

An Emeritus Fellow is expected to participate in sponsored research and consultancy activities in association with regular faculty members of the Institute. He or she cannot be a sole PD or supervisor of any project or student respectively.

An Emeritus fell ow is expected to provide research mentorship for internal residential faculty and research scholars.
Benefits

The fellowship will carry an honorarium between Rs 50,000 per month and an annual contingency grant of Rs 50,000 per annum.

Emeritus Fellows will not have any administrative responsibility.
Eligibility
-
The superannuating professor should be an acknowledged leader (expert) in the field of his/her specialization.
-
The superannuating professor actively engaged in teaching and research in the preceding five years.
